Artist’s Statement
I’m a process artist. After learning how to create for real, I break it up to reflect my rather rough persona. From my grandmother’s farm, shuttled around, corporate world, a bit of film, accounting. I now just teach and make art. I am inspired by seasons, life happenings – good and bad. Overheard conversations, curiosity, the urge to push a shape or idea as far as I can. Sometimes it works, other time fails. Just like life.
Like the brier rabbit in his brier patch, my nest is now an art studio with one dog and two cats. We walk, watch the birds, have odd conversations, listen to music, laugh at each other and with our friends. Life is a treasure, not to be taken for granted.
About the Artist
Having filled her life with a spectrum of careers as varied as her artist’s palette, Donna left the corporate world as a multi-state Sales Manager to return to the University. She has a Master of Fine Arts in Painting from the University of Washington. Graduate studies in Public Administration, is a certified teacher and has worked as Artistic Director of Pacific Art Center at Seattle Center, co-director of Kirkland Arts Center, Artist in Residence, Curator, Art Consultant, International Travel Lecturer and Leader, and was an artist/teacher throughout the Puget Sound region. Her art resume is just as varied with exhibitions, performance art pieces, collaborations, and, of course, teaching.
Donna’s ceramic work is currently on view at the Kirkland Arts Center gallery as part of Clay? VII.
All artwork displayed at the Kirkland Public Library Satellite Exhibition is for sale as marked by the Kirkland Arts Center.
